

Course identification, length and regulatory drivers: The following outline is used to conduct Confined Space training in accordance with the Cal/OSHA regulations, 8 CCR 5156-5158. Supplementary materials include reference to the pertinent Federal OSHA regulations, 29 CFR 1910.146.
Class length: 4 hours, 8 hours class includes rescue.
Target audience: Employees working in or around confined spaces.
Training location space & equipment requirements: Classroom setting with tables, chairs, overhead projector, laptop computer, and computer projector (Du-All Safety can provide), and white board. Client to provide sniffer and other required equipment (Du-all can provide samples for instruction).
Learning objectives: At the conclusion of this class, the attendee will be able to: (1) determine whether a space is or is not a "Confined Space," and whether or not a confined space is a "Permit-Required Confined Space;" (2) determine whether a confined space contains a hazardous atmosphere; (3) determine how to control hazards in confined spaces; and (4) understand the duties of Entrants, Attendants, Entry Supervisors, and Rescue Personnel.
Required reference materials: Confined space program handouts (Confined Space Handbook, entry permit forms, worksheets, survey forms, and student certificates), Cal/OSHA confined space guidebook, Cal/OSHA regulations, & powerpoint slides.
Evaluation instrument(s): Standard evaluation form & 10 question test (optional)
