Fire Safety Workshop

Course identification, length and regulatory drivers: The following is the standard course outline to conduct a fire workshop class, in accordance with 8, CCR 6151(g).

Class length: 1 Hour (.5 hour classroom, .5 hour fire demo)

Attendance prerequisites: none

Target audience: Employees who may use a fire extinguisher.

Training, location space & equipment requirements: Classroom with TV, VCR, PowerPoint Projector, laptop and backdrop. Equipment can be provided by Du-All Safety. Outside area 40' in diameter for a fire-pan and live fire to be set and extinguished. Client fire extinguishers will be used. Du-All Safety can provide fire extinguishers at an additional charge.

Learning objectives: To understand the basic fire chemistry, how to properly contain and extinguish fires.

Reference and instruction materials: Class syllabus and handouts.

Evaluation instrument(s): Standard evaluation form & 10 question test (optional)

Refresher frequency: Annually

Sequence of Instruction:

Class of fires (A, B, C, & D) and their extinguishing agents.
Examples of all types of fire extinguishers and proper use.
Fire triangle discussion.
Fire prevention (using the building schematic) an "how to".
Evacuation routes of areas, meeting places, and roll call procedures.
Methods of combating A, B & C types of fires.
Protecting fire fighters.
Fire demo - all students will put out a live fire.
