Safety Inspection Course Outline
The following is a Three-hour course outline to be used to conduct a general
safety inspection class. Course will consist of in-class session and a walk
through safety inspection and detailed explanation of all items listed. Students
will receive first hand information and be encouraged to ask questions.
Topics Include:
- Bench grinders, drill presses, and saws.
- Break rooms (inc. posting requirements) and restrooms.
- Compressed air and pneumatic tools.
- Electrical fixtures.
- Electrical panels, labeling, clearances and unused openings.
- Emergency eyewash/shower placement, maintenance, and operations.
- Fire and Evacuation routes (Egress) and panic hardware.
Fire extinguisher inspect and maintain, proper mounting and locations.
- First Aid kits.
- General machine guarding requirements including clearances and operation.
- Guarding of lights.
- Hand tool conditions and use.
- Lockout/Tagout observations.
- Lofts.
- Personal Protective Equipment.
- Portable electric tool maintenance and condition.
- Portable ladders.
- HazMat and Flammable storage, labeling, equipment, and Signage.
- Recognizing unsafe conditions.
- Safety type gas cans.
- Stairs and landings.
- Walking and working surfaces.
- Basic ergonomics and standard office equipment inspection & adjustments.
- Risk assessment code numbering systems/ assessing hazard priority.
Course will include sample inspection forms, risk assessment code charts,
and reference materials including specific regulatory citations and web-addresses.
