

Course identification, length and regulatory drivers: The following is a course outline for conducting Trenching and Shoring training in compliance with 8, CCR 1540.
Class Length: 8 hours
Attendance prerequisites: None
Target audience: Anyone working in or around trenches 5 feet to 30 feet in depth.
Training location space & equipment requirements: Classroom setting, trenching and shoring equipment field work.
Learning objectives: At the end of this class, the attendee will be able to: (1) identify hazards; (2) determine soil types; (3) determine protective systems.
Reference and instruction materials: Handouts.
Evaluation instrument(s): Standard evaluation form and 10 question test (optional)
Refresher training frequency: Annual
