Who Takes It: This course will authorize you to become a certified flagger. You’ll learn to manage traffic safely with tools like the STOP/SLOW paddle, setting up a flagger station, and mastering flagging for day, night, and emergencies. By course end, you’ll pass a 20-question exam and complete skill evaluation practical, ready to enhance California road safety.

• Review regulatory flagging requirements
• Review of Caltrans Flagging Instruction Handbook
• Review of Flagging equipment, signals, procedures, and skills.
• Cover standard flagger practices for various situations.
• Discuss flagger station requirements and required temporary traffic control devices.
• Discuss automated flagger assistance devices.
• Exercises using the WATCH Handbook 2024 (CA)
• Written Exam
• Practical Skillset Evaluation
