This class meets the Cal/OSHA standards of a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Class.

This is an 8-hour class.

For employees who may call in, respond to, and assist in the cleanup of hazardous materials and waste spills; first responders at the operations level who may respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response.

Topics Covered:

• Basic hazard and risk assessment techniques
• Selection and use of PPE provided to the first responder operational level
• Basic hazardous materials terms; use of the Emergency Response Guidebook
• Performing basic control, containment, and/or confinement operations and rescuing injured or contaminated persons within the capabilities of available resources and PPE
• Following basic equipment, victim, and rescue personnel decontamination procedures
• Relevant standard operating procedures, termination procedures

NOTE:  If 5 individuals are not enrolled 1 week prior to the course it will be canceled.
